Overview

Each line is one API call in full: system prompt, tools, conversation, thinking, tool calls and results, token usage. Sessions run in real software projects or start from an empty directory. In stock: more than 90,000 Claude Opus 5 sessions and more than 50,000 Kimi K3 sessions. Other models are built to order.

  • Full context on every line. Each request repeats the conversation so far, so files are large; tar.zst compresses them 80–247×.
  • Every call kept. Retries, context compaction and side calls such as web search stay in the file.
  • Thinking. Opus 5 thinking is summarized by the API and signed; Kimi K3 thinking is unsigned.
  • Project languages. Counted by each project’s primary programming language, the projects cover 25 languages.

Samples

Five sessions, both models. The excerpts leave out some steps and the system reminders Claude Code adds to messages; … marks text left out, and the home directory is shown as ~. A turn is one user prompt and everything the agent does before it replies, usually several model calls and tool calls.

Shell script from an empty directory: fill the gaps, touch nothing else

  • Claude Opus 5
  • Chinese conversation
  • Bash script
  • Empty directory
  • Hard parts
  • Ambiguous cache/tmp
  • Existing dirs untouched
  • File blocks a folder
  • Quieter, one warning kept

The user wants every folder under /data/users to have four standard subfolders, without touching anything that already exists. The agent treats cache/tmp as a nested path and asks the user to confirm it, then builds a throwaway tree with four kinds of users and dry-runs before the real run. In turn 2 the user has the agent drop the chown it added unasked; in turn 3 they want no summary when nothing is missing, and the agent complies but keeps one warning for an empty root, saying why.

Excerpt: all 3 turns

  1. User

  2. Thinking
I need to write a script ensuring each user directory has raw, processed, notebooks, and a cache/tmp structure — though I'm second-guessing whether "cache/tmp" means a nested tmp folder inside cache, or two separate top-level folders.
    …
I also want newly created subdirectories to inherit ownership from their parent directory rather than defaulting to root, using chown --reference= when running with elevated privileges — that seems like the careful approach.
    …
  3. Tool call Write
    file_path: ~/…/ensure_user_dirs.sh
    content:
    …
    # 已存在的目录不做任何改动(不动内容、不改权限)。

    SUBDIRS=(raw processed cache/tmp notebooks)

    - 幂等,重复跑安全。第二遍输出全是 ok,新建数 0。
    - 同名文件挡路时(比如某人 notebooks 是个文件而不是目录)不会删也不会覆盖,报一条 ! 让你人工处理,最后退出码为 1。其他用户照常补齐,不会中断。
    …
    - 用 root 跑的话会把新建目录 chown --reference 到该用户目录的属主上。不然建出来是 root:root,用户自己反而写不进去 —— 你大概率是要 sudo 跑这个的,所以加了。

    两个需要你确认的点:

    1. cache/tmp 我当成嵌套路径处理了,会建出 cache/ 和 cache/tmp/ 两层。…

  4. User
  5. Thinking
The user wants the summary line skipped when nothing was missing—when created and failed are both zero, so I should suppress that output.…
There's also an edge case: an empty root directory with zero users would produce no output at all, which could look like the script silently failed. I'm considering adding a distinct warning line for that scenario since it likely signals a wrong path, though I want to flag it separately since it's slightly beyond the user's explicit request.…

  9. Assistant

A CSV script whose requirements keep changing

  • English conversation
  • Python
  • Empty directory
  • Images in tool results
  • Hard parts
  • Which CTR average?
  • Shelved feature returns
  • Empty cell: bug?
  • Extra columns rejected

A throwaway script for the average click-through rate per day, over rows below a price threshold. In its thinking the agent settles a question the user did not raise (impression-weighted or per-row average) and tests on a tiny CSV whose answer can be checked by hand. In turns 2–4 the user asks for a chart, then for the comparison they had put on hold, then objects to columns they never asked for; turns 5 and 6 re-check the chart and switch CTR to percentages. The agent opens every chart it draws, and checks an empty cell against the raw rows before reporting it.

Excerpt: turns 1–4

  1. User
Sorry if this is kind of vague but I need a throwaway Python script that reads a csv of ad impressions and computes the average ctr grouped by date but only for rows where the price is under some threshold I pass in. … I mostly just want to see whether teh cheaper listings actually get clicked more or not.
  2. Thinking
… They mention their underlying goal: seeing whether cheaper listings get clicked more. There's a subtle statistical point here — "average CTR" could mean either:
    - Mean of per-row CTRs (simple average of ratios)
    - Weighted CTR (sum clicks / sum impressions per day)

  6. Assistant
Works — the 5.00-price row and the out-of-range July row were correctly excluded (13 clicks / 300 impressions = 0.0433 for the 1st).
    …
    2. This alone won't answer "do cheaper listings get clicked more" — it only shows the under-threshold group over time.… Say the word and I'll add a --compare flag that prints both groups (cheap vs. not) on each date line.
10 more steps: turns 2–4
  1. User
Hold off on the compare flag for now sorry to keep changing my mind on you. avg_ctr.py covers the numbers part but the people im showing this to on Thursday are not going to sit there reading rows of dates and decimals. whats the easiest way to turn that output into an actual grpah can python just draw it or am I better off pasting it into google sheets and fighting with the chart button
  2. Assistant
Yes, Python just draws it — no Sheets wrangling needed. I added a --plot flag to avg_ctr.py, so one command gets you both the numbers and a presentation-ready PNG:
    …
The chart above is from a synthetic 14-day test run, so what you'll get is: a line with markers per day, y-axis formatted as percentages, rotated date labels, and a title that states the price threshold and date range (so nobody in the room has to ask what they're looking at).…
  3. User
ok go ahead and do the compare flag now sorry I know I said hold off but the plot in avg_ctr.py looks right and id rather have everything ready before Thursday than scramble teh night before

Inherited React + Vite app: a claim challenged, then tested

  • Claude Opus 5
  • English conversation
  • JavaScript · React · Vite
  • Existing project
  • Hard parts
  • Deps not installed
  • “are u guessing”
  • IPv4 vs IPv6: no clash
  • Retracts own claim

The user inherited a React + Vite app and asks whether the dev server takes a port flag. The first check fails because dependencies were never installed; the agent installs them from the lockfile without changing it, then verifies. Asked whether “silently bumps to 5001” was a guess, it tests: the server it first puts on port 5000 listens on IPv4 while Vite listens on IPv6, so nothing collides; once it occupies the same IPv6 address, Vite moves to 5001 and says so, and the agent retracts “silently”. The session runs 19 turns; later ones bring a refactor, build checks and git questions.

…python3 grabs IPv4 0.0.0.0:5000 while vite binds IPv6 ::1:5000, so they don't collide and no port bump occurs. That means curl to 127.0.0.1:5000 hits python, not vite, so both servers silently coexist and which one you reach depends on the resolution path — actually worse than a simple bump.

But this doesn't disprove auto-increment in general, it just means my test didn't produce a real collision. To force a true test I need to occupy ::1:5000 specifically…

I was guessing on "silently," and that part was wrong. It does bump, but it announces it:
    …
So the bump is visible twice: a warning line, and the Local: URL showing the real port. You'd have to not look at the terminal to miss it. Auto-increment confirmed, "silent" retracted.
    …
That is the failure mode worth worrying about, and it's the one where nothing warns you. Vite 4 binds localhost, which Node resolves to ::1 here. If the other thing you're running is IPv4-only — plenty of Python/Go/Rails dev servers bind 0.0.0.0 or 127.0.0.1 — you get no conflict, no warning, and whether your browser reaches Vite or the other app depends on how it resolves localhost.…

Beam search in a small PyTorch library: “you actually sure?”

  • English conversation
  • Python · PyTorch
  • Existing project

  • 49 or 48 tokens?
  • No torch installed
  • Real loop, stub math
  • Own claim disproved

Eight turns on a small sequence-generation library: porting a copied generate() call, tracing a wrong end-of-sequence id, changing a default. In turn 6 the agent says a run that never emits end-of-sequence is cut silently at 49 tokens; in turn 7 the user asks whether that number was simply asserted. With no torch installed, the agent imports the library’s real beam-search file with only the tensor math stubbed, and prints the lengths. In turn 8 a second check of the same kind shows that one of its own earlier claims was wrong, and its reply opens with that correction.

Turn The user asks → the agent API calls / tool calls
1 Rework a copied generate() call for this library’s beam search 5 / 5
2 Output always runs to max length: length penalty or wrong end-of-sequence id? 1 / 0
3 The end-of-sequence id was the cause: keep that fix, revert the start token 2 / 1
4 Lower the max_length default to 48 → the real default is 1024, and the call site overrides it 3 / 2
6 No end-of-sequence within 48 steps: chop or raise? → silent chop, 49 tokens 1 / 0
7 “you actually sure?” → runs the real loop with stubbed tensors 13 / 14
8 Is any of this sound? → a new check disproves one of its own claims 3 / 2

Excerpt: end of turn 6 to turn 8

  1. Assistant
It silently chops — no raise, no warning, no flag. The loop is just for step in range(self.max_length) (beam_search.py:110); when the range exhausts, execution falls straight through to the final selection (beam_search.py:164-177), which takes the highest-scoring node whatever state it's in and returns its tokens.…

Yes, I'm sure — now with receipts. No torch on this box…, so I ran the **actual beam_search.py** with only torch's numerics stubbed out: the real file imports, the real for step in range(self.max_length) loop, the real token appends, the real break condition, the real final max() — everything that decides sequence length.…
    1. 49, not 48 — and the max_length=5 → 6 run shows the +1 is systematic, not a fluke: tokens starts as [decoder_start_token_id] before the loop (beam_search.py:101-103), then exactly one token is appended per iteration, so output = max_length + 1.…
  4. User
honest opinion though — is any of this actually sound? the 49 came out of a torch stub, not the real thing, and ive now shipped an eos fix and a max_length change off the back of it
  5. Assistant
Fair question, and it deserves a straight answer rather than reassurance. First let me convert my one remaining unexecuted claim (the duplicated trailing EOS) into executed evidence, then I'll give you the honest ledger:
  6. Tool call Bash
    PYTHONPATH=~/… python3 /tmp/check_eos_stub.py
  7. Tool output Bash
    terminated at length: [6, 6]
    sequence: [0, 3, 3, 3, 3, 9]
    ends with duplicated EOS: False
  8. Assistant
Honest answer, and it starts with a correction: that run just proved one of my earlier claims wrong, which is the best possible evidence that the harness has teeth.

Where I over-claimed: I told you (twice) to expect a duplicated trailing EOS. That came from reading the respawn branch (beam_search.py:135-144), not from running it. With staggered beams — one finishing while others continue, the production-like case — the real code just terminated cleanly at [0, 3, 3, 3, 3, 9], single EOS.…

Legacy data mapping in a Vue/Nuxt app: proof demanded

  • Claude Opus 5
  • Chinese conversation
  • TypeScript · Vue · Nuxt
  • Existing project
  • Hard parts
  • User points at wrong file
  • No tests: old vs new
  • No bun, uses node
  • Negative values: same bug

The user asks how the “legacy import” maps old JSON into the current store. The agent first corrects the premise: that file samples images; the mapping lives in another file, where ?? keeps a junk new value such as 0 instead of falling back to the legacy field, so the default 48 wins. Asked to log this and an unchecked out-of-bounds case with line numbers, then to prove the fix, it records both as tasks with exact lines, changes two lines and, since the project has no test framework, runs old and new logic side by side in a throwaway script (with node, as bun is missing). A one-line follow-up about negative values turns up a second case of the same bug.

Turn The user asks → the agent API calls / tool calls
1 How does the legacy import map old JSON? → the user named the wrong file; explains the real mapping and a ?? fallback bug 6 / 9
2 Log this bug and an unchecked out-of-bounds case, with line numbers → two tasks 2 / 2
3 Fix the first one, show the lines, prove it → two-line fix, old-vs-new script, node instead of the missing bun 10 / 10
4 What if cellW is negative? → it is clamped to the minimum of 8, so square cells become rectangular 3 / 2
5 Go ahead with the fix → cell, cellW and cellH count as valid only when > 0; 25 cases, 13 behavior changes listed 5 / 4

  2. Assistant

    **2. 正方形 cell → cellW/cellH**(tilemap.ts:116-118)
    …
  3. User

  5. User

  7. User
  8. Assistant
和 || 对负数都是"有值",一路穿到 …:Math.round(-10) = -10 → min(256,-10) = -10 → max(8,-10) = 8。
    …
